Dysfunctions to the neck, sense of balance and vision can compound concussion symptoms and delay healing.  Keystone Health’s team will assess and determine if any issue are apparent - within these faculties - and address them within our treatment .

Treatment will have an emphasis on taking the time to diagnose and educate each person who has sustained a concussion. We provide active treatment to relieve symptoms and optimize recovery. Detailed treatment plans guide each concussed person through the stages of recovery and provide appropriate pacing to help return to an active lifestyle.

at Red Cedar

For most individuals, symptoms following concussions are transient and recovery occurs within a few weeks.  For some individuals, concussions can be more complicated and can produce a wide range of persistent symptoms.

A physiotherapy consultation for persistent symptoms can help to lower the risk of prolonged recovery.  At Red Cedar Physiotherapy a comprehensive assessment is performed to identify the individual’s symptoms and help guide individual management and treatment strategies.

The most important aspect of physiotherapy rehabilitation is education – this will help you to know how best to progress your activity (physical and cognitive) guided by symptoms. Other management strategies may include (but are not limited to): physical rehabilitation for neck pain; vestibular rehabilitation for dizziness / imbalance; advice regarding modified school and / or work requirements; graded reintroduction to aerobic exercise; simple eye exercises for visual disturbances; testing for return to sport or competition.

We work closely with your physician and screen for conditions that may require consultation and referral to colleagues.

Physiotherapists Erin Collins and Prue Hicks have additional education in Concussion Management.
