Athletic therapy

Athletic Therapists (AT) use an evidence-based approach to provide tailored concussion rehabilitation strategies and manual therapy treatments.

The concussion assessment will include baseline testing like SCAT5, cranial nerves and neurological testing, cervical spine and vestibulo oculomotor screen (VOMS). A blood flow and exertion test will also be done to provide a specific exercise threshold program to promote an active and faster recovery.

When needed, AT’s will provide vestibular rehab, vision rehab and cervical spine manual therapy. Dysfunctions of the neck, sense of balance and vision can compound concussion symptoms, delay healing and must be addressed together for optimal results.

AT’s believe that ''You are the treatment for concussion'' and education is a key part of concussion recovery. They will provide you advice on sleep hygiene, nutrition and lifestyle and provide guidance for a gradual return to your cognitive and physical activities.
